As part of the new regulations Simplex by Nuvei must adhere to, we are now required to collect our end-users' Tax IDs and/or Social Security Numbers if the user is from the US.
You might be asked to provide such information to us if you are a new user purchasing for the first time or a returning user.
For new users, the step to provide a “Tax ID” is usually part of the identity verification process. Returning users who have already verified their identity might be asked to submit the required tax information during their next payment attempt or separately, via a formal request sent by email.
The pages where you are required to submit the Tax ID or Social Security Number look like this:
1. The Tax ID information for users outside the US:
The Tax ID needs to be entered in the corresponding field.
You will see what kind of number/ID it is based on the Tax Residence Country you have selected in the drop-down.
If the actual Tax ID is called differently in your country than it is called in the corresponding line, enter the correct number.
We would also appreciate it if you could inform us if the title of the Tax ID Number in your country is incorrect, so we can review it and make any necessary changes.
2. The SSN information for US users:
The SSN acts as a Tax ID in the US.
You will need to enter your Social Security Number (SSN) in the corresponding field, along with the other information requested.
The SSN must be entered in the official way; it must be displayed as a nine-digit number in the standard written format of XXX-XX-XXXX, split into a 3-digit area number, a 2-digit group number, and a 4-digit serial number.
If you do not know or can not locate your TIN (Tax ID), you can refer to the OECD's official website, which includes examples of Tax Identification Numbers used in different countries.
